Advanced Concepts

I got Kim Plainfield's Advanced Concepts book as a birthday gift from my girlfriend recently. I was interested to see if I could get some of that Zach Danziger magic via a book by his teacher!

It seems to have some interesting ideas, just wondering if anyone else has it and if so, what they think of it...

i have it. now from my perspective, i have been pretty much a rock, funk, pop type drummer. i got the book purely to learn some cool afro-cuban/latin grooves. and man there are some cool ones! i especially love playing the baiao! when i heard vinnie doin' it on the 'blue note' disc....i thought...i have to learn that s#*t. also, nice stuff on samba. and another of my fav's is the songo stuff. i worked (jumped around) through about half the book and found it to be very helpful. some nice exercises.
ditto on the girlfriend! she's a keeper!

Funny stuff guys - I may have to get her to look at this thread!

Drum books are a new one but she did buy me Wigged Out and Kimotion before so I know I am a lucky chap!

She even tolerates me keeping a samll practice set-up at her place... must be love eh?

You have a great book and girlfriend!
I studied with the Kim and hade lessons with Danziger
at the Collective 94.
I still not 25% as good as Danziger on a bad day.
Kim Plainfield was and is a great player, teacher. human
